A Green Co, GA buck my son shot on 10 Nov. Found this buck and decided to try for him. He was never able to find or even see the buck out in the open, the old boy lived in a 375 ac. area clear cut seven years ago and so thick a rabbit couldn't get through.
He set up in tree right in the middle of the thickest cover and shot this buck at about 15 FEET from him and almost straight down. Not bad for a deer from our part of the country - 152 points green, probably will go really close to 150 after it dries.

Please, if anyone can tell me why I cannot post a photo to this site I would really like to know!

That's your little boy? Wink Nice deer. Some day I want to shoot a white tail. I think that the problem was that you didn't have [/img] at the end of your URL. The / is important.

I just noticed, do you guys really haul them out of the woods without field dressing them? The first thing I do is dress it and leave the intestines there.

for me it depends on where it falls. if the deer dies where I think the yotes may interfere when the next days( or that afternoons) hunt, I will move the deer and field dress it where it doesnt matter. otherwise, it gets done where it drops.

i have been a guest at one camp that it is always taken back to camp before it is dressed.

I do know of one processor that charges more if you had dressed it because it cause him more work to clean it up.

Normally we do field dress them where we shoot them but this one was killed on our lease property and we have everything set up to clean them out at the campsite; running water, gambol with hoist, etc. This one was hauled out and field dressed, then taken to the cooler with a bag of ice in the body cavity. Seems we always have a problem with heat here in the south, I've killed deer when the flies would try to eat your arms off before you could finish field dressing them. The meat will go sour in a hurry if you don't take care of it, and I do hate to waste it!

BTW, our legal bag limit is 12 deer per season of which only twow may be antlered bucks. I think that may be the most liberal in the country?

PARTS of Tennessee have a 3 antlerless deer A DAY limit, but only 3 buck for the whole year. this not the whole state on the antlerless. button bucks with less than 3" antlers are considered antlerless.
